Background
Ben Simmons is a Pennsylvania-licensed attorney whose practice focuses on medical malpractice. He handles cases throughout the state and federal courts of Pennsylvania against hospital systems and health care networks on behalf of catastrophic injury victims.
Prior to joining McEldrew Purtell, Ben spent twelve years at a general litigation and criminal defense firm, specializing in medical malpractice, prisoner civil rights litigation, and a variety of other areas. His diverse practice experience informs his approach to client relationships and practical, results-oriented representation. At McEldrew Purtell, his focus is on holding corporations and healthcare systems responsible for putting profit above patient safety.
While earning his J.D., Ben completed Drexel Law’s co-op program at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, where he supported attorneys in Corporate Finance and Business Litigation on matters that included white-collar criminal defense, trademark litigation, and transactional work related to a $12 million asset sale. He earned his J.D. from Drexel University’s Earle Mack School of Law (now Drexel Kline School of Law), graduating cum laude with a concentration in Business and Entrepreneurship Law, and received his B.A. in Political Science and Government from Bloomsburg University (now Commonwealth University–Bloomsburg).
Ben has been selected to Super Lawyers (2024–2026) and Rising Stars (2017–2022) and is a member of the Drexel Kline Inn of Court.
In his free time Ben enjoys traveling, running, and exploring Philadelphia’s food scene with his wife.
